The International WorkBoat Show brought GCS Industrial Group and our technology partner Knomatic Software to New Orleans for a productive three days of conversations, connections, and a good look at the direction the broader maritime industry is heading. The verdict: everyone is thinking about the same problems — and not enough companies have good solutions yet.

The Connections

The show floor was a concentrated version of the Gulf Coast maritime world. Knomatic made meaningful connections with some of the most respected names in the industry — Dann Ocean Towing, Industrial Emergency Services, Apache Oil Company, Gulf Marine Contractors, and the Offshore Service Vessel Dynamic Positioning Authority (OSVDPA).

These aren't just names on a badge — these are operators who move things, keep people safe at sea, and manage complex equipment and crew logistics across offshore and marine environments every day. And across every single one of those conversations, one theme kept surfacing.

The Theme

Operators need flexible, modern tools to streamline scheduling, compliance, inspections, crew management, and maintenance. Whether we were talking towing, offshore services, equipment readiness, or stevedoring — the pain points were almost identical. Paper-based processes. Disconnected systems. Compliance tracking that lives in someone's memory or a spreadsheet that's always behind.

That's the problem Knomatic was built to solve — and hearing it echoed across so many different sectors at WorkBoat was validating. The platform GCS helped shape for stevedoring operations translates directly to the challenges facing towing, offshore, and marine service companies: dynamic scheduling, mobile time and attendance, credential tracking, inspection workflows, maintenance logs, and real-time operational visibility.

The WorkBoat Show's industry networking events drew thousands of maritime professionals from across the Gulf Coast and beyond.

What This Means for GCS

GCS has a front-row seat to how Knomatic performs in one of the most demanding operational environments in maritime logistics — active multi-vessel stevedoring operations across multiple Gulf Coast ports. The conversations at WorkBoat confirmed that the platform we've been building alongside Knomatic isn't just solving stevedoring problems. It's addressing a broader industry need.

We're excited about the partnerships and opportunities ahead — and grateful to the GCS team and the Knomatic team for representing both companies so well in New Orleans. More to come from these connections.
